This film is an authentic portrait of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, one of Tibet's great contemporary teachers, considered to be a "Master of Masters" among the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

Renowned as a great meditator, guru, poet, scholar and as one of the main teachers of the Dalai Lama, the Nyingma Lama Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche died in 1991. Ten years in the making, this film began in 1989 when translator Matthieu Riacrd and Vivian Kurz began taping extensive footage of their teacher. Shot in rarely filmed Kham, Eastern Tibet, as well as Nepal, Bhutan, India and France, the film shows the rich and intricate tapestry Of Tibetan Buddhism and is a witness to the strength, wisdom and depth of Tibetan culture.

Matthieu Ricard has always served as his secretary, and is also the official translator of HH the Dalai Lama. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche visited the Western world several times and has many Western students. Those who have met him, acknowledge him as a fully realized person. The film contains rare and authentic footage from the fifties and the sixties of Buddhist dances and rituals.

幸運的出生

在兒童的王國裡
你們每個人，都是這個小孩，
是一個從天堂蹦跳出來的
純真的存在
降落在香巴拉的世界。
你是這幸運的出生，
在你的世界中，一切都是完美的。

你的衣服是天堂的霧靄，
你的雙足、被龍的氣息所涵蓋，
你是地球上最幸運的眾生，
你是佛法之子；
沒有任何事物可以關閉你敞開的心。
其他的孩子受著苦，陷入長期的困境中——
因為佛陀已經觸及你，

此刻，即如法修行，

Fortunate Birth

In the kingdom of children
Every one of you is this child,
An innocent being
Who jumped out of heaven
And landed in Shambhala.
Fortunate birth is who you are–
Everything is perfect in your world.

Your clothing is the mist of heaven,
Your feet covered by dragon’s breath,
You are the most fortunate beings on earth.
You are the children of dharma.
Nothing can close your open heart.
Other children suffer, caught in perpetual dilemma–
Because Buddha has touched you,
You are fortunate.

Be dharmic now,
Be powerful now,
Be benevolent now–
Not for me, not for others–
But because that is your blood.
When you feel privileged, use it.
When you feel ashamed, pounce.
Consume that hesitation–
It’s only a flicker of your imagination.

You are the blessed people on this earth.
Every atom of your being is Buddha–
What’s left is joy.
You have no excuse;
Don’t sulk.
You can be sad, for sadness is
the most genuine expression.
Expression of goodness is who you are.
Being a child of dharma is dilemma.
Being a child of dharma is freedom.

Consume this hesitation of not knowing.
Never doubt,
Only walk forward.
Love everything,
For that is why you are here.

薩姜米龐仁波切「和平的秋收」開示

“Peace is the only way that we are going to survive as a human race and planet. The Dorje Dradul had this in mind many years ago when he left India and came West. He had this wisdom and felt like it needed to be shared and propagated. Now, almost like a time capsule, these teachings have come about. And I feel that we ourselves as Shambhalians need to deepen what we have. We have a tremendous treasure trove of teachings, methods, and practices that we need to delve into.

At this time, it is obvious that the world will become more and more crowded. There’s more speed. There’s more anxiety. There’s more intensity. The tendency is to become less compassionate, less gentle, more aggressive, more prideful. So we are trying to counter that, saying that at the basic level, what has occurred is that human beings as a whole don’t trust their inherent basic goodness. The teachings and practice of warriorship emphasize that we need to be strong and see our own goodness and how we can share that with others. That is at the heart of the teachings. All of us, no matter what we are doing in our lives, need to understand that and feel that.

We actually have to reveal and manifest it. As Shambhalians, we have to ourselves be gentle, powerful, glorious warriors with a sense of celebration.“

灌頂

灌頂 （Initiation）

我的學生，大多是因為聽說我是禪師和西藏喇嘛才來跟我學的。但我們的初次邂逅如果是在路上或餐館，還會有多少人來呢？很少有人會因這種偶遇而生起學佛修禪之心。引人學佛似乎是我的身分——從異國來的西藏禪師，第十一世創巴活佛。

人們就是這樣才來求我灌頂，以便加入佛教和修道者的團體。但灌頂的意義究竟為何？佛法悠久偉大傳承的智慧是由歷來的禪修者代代相傳的，且與灌頂有關，這又是怎麼回事呢？

就這一點冷嘲熱諷一番，似乎是值得的。人們想要接受灌頂：他們想要加入這個俱樂部，得到頭銜，獲得智慧。我個人不想玩弄人們希求非凡之物的弱點。有些人買畢卡索的畫，只是因為畢卡索之名，他們願意付出高價，而對所買的作品是否是好藝術連想都不想；他們買的是畫作的憑證或畫家的名氣，以名氣和傳聞作為藝術品質的保證。這種做法，可說是全無深刻智性的思考。

有人可能因為覺得內心饑渴或自己無用，而去參加俱樂部或有錢的組織，以便得吃得喝。他如願以償地被養肥了，可是那又怎樣？誰在騙誰？是上師在自欺、擴充自我嗎？「我有這麼多受過灌頂的信徒。」還是上師在欺騙弟子，誤導他們自信比以前更具有智慧、更有道心，只因他們加入了他的組織，有了僧侶、瑜伽士或別的頭銜？這些名稱和證件真的對我們有益嗎？它們當真有益嗎？我們要面對事實：半小時的儀式並不能提高我們的覺悟層次。我本人對佛教傳承和法教之力都極為信仰，但並不是不加深思就照單全收的。

我們對修道一事必須慎思明辨。如果去聽一位上師說法，我們不該讓自己被他的名氣和個人魅力給迷住，而應善自體會他所說的每一句話、和他所教授的每一種禪修方法。我們必須跟法教和法師明確而理智的打交道。此智性與情緒化或美化老師無關；不是傻呵呵地接受堂皇的證書，也不是為了要自利而加入一個俱樂部。
　　
這不是去找一位聰明的上師，以便買他的智慧或偷他的智慧。真正的灌頂，包含誠實率直地跟善友和自己相處。是故我們必須力求坦白，發露自欺，我們必須將自我真實和粗糙的品質毫不保留的全遞交出來。

「灌頂」的梵文是abhisheka，意謂「噴灑」、「灌注」、「塗油」。要灌，就要有可灌的容器。如果我們真心投入，對善友完全敞開自己，讓自己成為堪受告誡的容器，那麼善友也會敞開，灌頂於是發生。此即灌頂或師徒間「心心相印」(the meeting of the two minds) 的意義。

身體

身體（The Body）

身體並不見得是很特別的；整個世界就是你的身體。有一種傾向，是把身體視為個人的擁有物，也正因為如此，你往往忘記了身外的世界及其所有涉及之更大的經驗範疇。如果一個人能夠與世界相互聯繫，他便能和自己的身體相互聯繫。而如果一個人能徹底地與自己的身體相聯繫，那麼此人就會學到如何向世界敞開。
